Color Printing

We offer three weights of Hammermill paper, 28#, 60# and 80#. All of our color printers are digital laser printers.

8.5x11" (Letter)

You may bring in your own custom paper if desired. The paper must be compatible with laser printers and must be within a certain thickness. We will evaluate the usability of your paper once the order is submitted. When printing in color, please make sure documents are formatted in CMYK color mode, and have a resolution of at least 300 dpi.

Full Bleed Cutting

SP offers full bleed cutting for color & BW orders. Each page is printed on 12x18 paper and cut down to the appropriate size.

Black & White Printing

Our 20# white paper is 100% post-consumer recycled paper.

Large Format Printing

Our HP Designjet (Inkjet) printer can print large posters and banners up to 42 inches wide and 7 feet long on various types of paper.

Files should be sized to their desired print size. 2 free grommets are included with every Tyvek poster. Note that while Tyvek paper is weather resistant, the ink is neither water resistant nor waterproof.

What is a "linear foot"?

Large format printing is done using a large roll of paper, so we charge by how much paper is used. We measure this in length, that is, we charge by how “tall” the poster is, as opposed to how wide it is. If either the length or width (or both) of your poster is 42” or greater, we will charge for the larger dimension. Otherwise, we’ll charge based on the shorter dimension.

• If your poster is 23x39”, we would charge for 23” (1.91 feet) of paper.
• If you poster is 18x72”, we would charge for 72” (6 feet) of paper.
• If you have multiple posters to print, it is encourage to print them all in one order. We may be able to place them side-by-side, which will save you money as opposed to printing them separately.

Buttons

When creating button artwork, please submit PDF or jpeg files, formatted to the correct size. Use the guide below to format your artwork properly to have full bleed. If you need help laying out an image or creating button artwork, please contact our graphic designers.

Business Cards

Cards are printed in batches of 24 on 12x18 100# Bright White paper.

Business cards are produced at 3.5x2". All artwork must contain 0.125" of bleed on each side. A business card with a proper bleed should be sized to 3.75x2.25".

A layout & cutting fee is charged to all business card orders to account for specialty layout and cutting on our business card cutter.

Booklet Printing

We offer saddle-stitch booklets in 8.5x5x5" (Statement) or 8.5x11" (Letter). Booklets may be printed in black & white, color or a combination of both (e.g. a black & white booklet with a color cover).

File Requirements

• PDF file format
• Must be laid out 1 page per sheet
• Must be sized to the final print size
• Total amount of pages in PDF must be divisible by 4

A PDF is required to ensure consistent printing and preservation of quality. Each page must be sized to the final print size. For example, if you’re ordering an 8.5x5.5” booklet, the pages must be sized to 8.5x5.5”. Additionally, one page of the PDF must consist to one page in the booklet. Do not lay out multiple pages per sheet. If the total number of pages in your PDF is not divisible by 4, you may add blank pages to reach this requirement.

Booklets are guaranteed within 5 business days of proof approval. A physical proof will be provided for all booklet orders.

Postcards

Postcards are printed at 5x7” and come in sets of 4.

Postcards should be sized appropriately, and should include a 0.25" bleed.

Binding

Binding is available in 3 different types and a variety of sizes. StudentPrint will choose the smallest size coil that fits your document. Pricing for each type varies by size.

*An outside finishing fee may be charged for binding documents that weren't printed at StudentPrint.

Cutting and Trimming

Our guillotine paper cutter can cut up to 200 sheets at a time. We can trim anything down to any size.

More complex jobs may require additional cutting, so we may charge by cutting time as opposed to individual cuts.

Laminating

We can laminate any type of paper. Documents are placed inside of a lamination pouch and run through a thermal laminator. We offer three different lamination sizes.

Please note that your document does not have to match these dimensions exactly and is acceptable as long as it fits within a 2.5x4", 9x11.5" or 11.5x17.5" laminating pouch. An outside finishing fee may be charged for lamination of documents that weren't printed at StudentPrint.

Portfolios, reports and projects

StudentPrint offers black & white and color printing for art portfolios, bound reports, and other projects. While we offer special project printing year-round, we are especially busy during finals week and ask that you submit your project for printing as soon as possible to guarantee its completion by your required date. StudentPrint guarantees that an order will be complete within 2 full working days from the date of submission or proof approval if applicable. Please keep this in mind when printing special projects.

Bookmarks and Tickets

We offer simple, bookmark-style printing and cutting. Artwork should be submitted as a PDF or image file and sized to 8 x 2.25" and should include a 0.25" bleed for a final print size of 8.25 x 2.5".

Faxing -

CloudFax Digital Transmission

We can send and receive both domestic and international faxes.

Scanning

We can photocopy documents or scan & convert them to a PDF. Documents may be saved to a USB flash drive or emailed to you directly.

“Hand scan” refers to documents that are scanned via the glass and not through the printer’s automatic document feeder. When printing and scanning portions of books or other printed material, please be aware that StudentPrint is a Fair Use print shop and will only scan one chapter or ten percent of the content, whichever amounts to fewer pages. Stickers

Stickers are offered in a variety of shapes and sizes. They are processed in different ways, based on the desired size & shape. Sticker designs must be submitted as PDFs or image files.

File Requirements

• PDF or image file
• Designed in CMYK color mode
• Contains a bleed of 0.125" (squares/rectangles) or 0.25" (all other shapes)
• Resolution of at least 250dpi
• Free of any transparency (flattened)

T-Shirts

We offer custom T-Shirt printing on various garments. Any designs with intellectual property must be approved by Trademark and Licencing prior to printing. Send us an email with any questions or concerns regarding your artwork.

Transfer sheets are what we use to transfer your artwork to the shirt. Laser Light sheets are used with light colored garments such as yellow, white, or pink. Laser Dark sheets are used with dark colored garments such as black, brown, or navy.

For each image you want on the shirt a transfer sheet must be pressed with our heat press. This means that if you wanted, for example, an image on the front of the shirt and the sleeve we will charge for two presses per shirt.

These are our base recommended garments for our service. We are able to print on custom garments per request. Please send us an email for more information on custom garments and a custom price estimate if desired.
